Starting today, the Virgin Islands Education Department’s Division of Human Resources, in partnership with the Division of Personnel, will migrate to a new online human resource management system.

The new system will “significantly streamline the job search and application process by allowing job seekers to create a user profile to submit applications and attachments electronically, as opposed to the current manual process,” according to Human Resources Director Nicole Jacobs.

Using technology by NEOGOV, the nation’s largest provider of cloud-based human resource software for the public sector, the website — www.vide.vi — offers job seekers the ability to apply for vacancies and create job-interest notifications. Jacobs said the job-interest feature is particularly helpful in that it will automatically notify applicants whenever the department posts positions within their areas of interest.

Jacobs went on to explain that the new system is expected to allow managers and others to quickly and strategically assess the skills of applicants using an electronic-sort mechanism. This feature, she said, “will reduce administrative work, thereby increasing human resource staff efficiency and expansion of services to its clients.”
