Mail Plus operating at Tutu Park Mall
Daily News Staff
Monday, March 3rd 2008

Daily News Photos by NICK SCHNEEMAN The recently opened Mail Plus store in Tutu Park Mall across from Subway.

Seeing a need in the neighborhood, St. Thomas resident Alvery Smith decided to open a business center, Mail Plus, in Tutu Park Mall.

The 1,000-square-foot "one-stop shipping center" across from Subway opened Feb. 1, Smith said. There, customers can send packages via FedEx, UPS, DHL and the U.S. Postal Service.

Mail Plus also holds 300 mailboxes that can be rented for $54 for three months or $175 for a year.

"I always had a passion to open a shipping center," Smith said. "I saw a need for another post office in the area because the one in the mall was long lines."

The store already has a business meeting room that can hold four to six people, and it aims to add Internet access, wire transfer and a print shop soon.

Alvery Smith is owner of the newly opened Mail Plus.
