The Rev. Vincent David to be installed as district pastor at City and Maranatha Seventh-day churches
Saturday, November 21st 2009


City and Maranatha Seventh-day Adventist churches will hold an installation service for new District Pastor, Vincent David, Ph.D, at 9 a.m. today at the City SDA Church on St. Thomas.

Son of the late Herman and Violet David, David was born on the island of Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.

As a child, he attended school briefly on St. Kitts, then on Tortola and St. Thomas, graduating from Charlotte Amalie High School. Soon after, he attended Oakwood University (formerly Oakwood College) in Huntsville, Alabama, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in theology with a minor in business administration. He later pursued and earned a master of science degree in administration from the School of Business at Andrews University, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the School of Education at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. 

In 1988, David was ordained to the gospel ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Organization. He served as a member of the executive committee of the Caribbean Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He also served as a mentor and then administrative assistant to the assistant vice president for Student Affairs, responsible for the Minority Mentoring Program and Head Student Dean, Men's Residence Halls at Andrews University. In 1996, the North Caribbean Conference and the Caribbean Union Conference called and appointed him with special assignment to serve as executive director of the Turning Point Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Foundation in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles.

He served as chairman of the BVI Seventh-day Adventist School Board of Management.   

Recently, he served as director of education and as an executive member of the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventist, executive member of the Board of Education of the Caribbean Union Conference and the University of the Southern Caribbean (Formerly Caribbean Union College) Board. Under his ministry, leadership schools have been initiated, established, engineered and developed across the North Caribbean Conference. His ministry journey has taken him from his internship period in St. Thomas (City and Shiloh Congregations) to St. Eustatius, Saba, St. Maarten, Tortola, BVI, St. Croix and now St. Thomas. He has held revivals and evangelistic campaigns in all the named places including Curacao, Antigua, Canada, a number of states in the U.S. mainland. Recently, he served the East Caribbean Conference in Barbados and the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Region in St. Vincent as their guest speaker for their First National and Regional Education Convention respectively. 

David has been actively involved in community ministries. He served as member of the Hospital Advisory Board St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; a member and chairman of National Drug Advisory Council, British Virgin Islands; a member of the Crisis Intervention Team, British Virgin Islands; a member of Child Abuse Prevention Council, British Virgin Islands; the chaplain of the Legislative Council Government of the British Virgin Islands; a guest member of the BVI Council of Churches; a lecturer at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College and University of the West Indies Extension Campus, BVI; and has been the guest speaker at various public and private school graduations; the guest speaker at the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force Celebration; and as a member of the Virgin islands Smoke-Free Coalition Council.

David is also the recipient of various awards, including the Adventist Student Personnel Award (ASPA) and the Outstanding Young Men of America Award.  

David is married to the former Celeste Rogers, daughter of Lynch and Genevieve Rogers of St. Thomas.  Celeste David earned both a bachelor of arts and a bachelor of science degree from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Mich. Celeste Davis, fondly known as "Sis D," is a certified music teacher and a registered nurse, employed by the Virgin Islands Department of Health.

The Davids have the blessed joy of parenting two dynamic youths, Vincent II and Chaunielle Lizette, both currently in college.  

David is a certified Crisis Intervention Specialist, certified Family Life Educator Specialist, a specialized drug prevention educator and an ordained and credentialed minister of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. He is a motivational speaker, evangelist, preacher, the peoples' pastor and he authored two books recently published by Author House, "Daring to Dream" and "He Restoreth All Things."
