Two men and a woman on St. Croix have been arrested and charged with conspiracy, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and several other charges in connection with an Aug. 17 robbery at Randall "Doc" James Racetrack.
Jaime Roebuck, 26, of Estate Whim; Monique Armstrong, 25, of Estate Sion Farm; and Andre Buffong, 28, of Tan Tan Terrace were arrested Saturday and charged with conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretense.
Armstrong and Buffong were also charged with making false statements to police and interfering with an officer discharging his duty. Additional charges of first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, carrying or using a dangerous weapon and grand larceny were laid against Buffong. Bail for each was set at $100,000.
Police Department spokeswoman Melody Rames said the three conspired to report a false robbery in order to obtain money from the track. The woman worked at the racetrack, but the other suspects did not.
Rames was unable to provide further details about the crime.
