Workers are replacing the collapsed drainage structures on Crown Mountain Road on St. Thomas. Public Works Commissioner Darryl Smalls said the project will be ongoing as several locations of Crown Mountain Road must be repaired where culverts or other drainage structures have been damaged over the years.
"This has been plaguing us for a number of years," Smalls said.
A damaged culvert under the road in Neltjeberg that was covered by metal plates for about two years is currently being repaired. That project is being repaired one lane at a time.
The drainage repair is being paid for from a recent bond issued by the Public Finance Authority that raised $86.3 million for a number of capital projects in the territory, Smalls said. He did not have a specific cost for the Crown Mountain Road drainage work.
