Star-studded lineup to help Tempo celebrate birthday

The "Tempo Turns 4 - Lights, Camera, Action!" concert will have St. Croix jumping tonight, bringing together top names in reggae, dancehall, soca and salsa at the Randall "Doc" James Racetrack.
"Tempo Turns 4" is the fourth anniversary celebration of Caribbean media and entertainment company Tempo Networks' flagship television network, Tempo, which went on air in the Caribbean on Nov. 21, 2005. Broadcast locally on Innovative Cable TV, Tempo is the first 24-hour cable channel dedicated to Caribbean music, culture, cuisine, sports and travel.
Tempo Networks founder, chairman and CEO, Frederick Morton Jr., will attend Saturday's concert to announce the event. The St. Croix native said he founded the network as celebration of all things Caribbean.
The concert will feature legendary headlining artist Shabba Ranks, N'Klabe, Tarrus Riley, Gramps Morgan, Iwer George, Ce'Cile, Ziggy Rankin, UMB Soldiers, Mada Nile, Cherise King and DJ Poppy Pops into the wee hours of Sunday morning.
The concert kicks off at 4 p.m. with a pre-show with performances by Hart Attak Band, Sabor Latino, Excalibur, Harry Mo, Hugo Pantes, Ma Fyah, Empress Miangro, Bolo Ice, Black Star Band, Fyah Emblem, DJ Saigon and DJ Cool and Deadly.
Tickets are $35 general admission, $45 bleacher section and $125 VIP and will be available at the door.
Parking
Between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. V.I. Police Department will be along the road leading to the Randall "Doc" James Racetrack entrance, monitoring and directing traffic. The road will be widened to accommodate two lanes and a pedestrian walkway. Concertgoers can park at the racetrack venue in the parking lot.
After 11 p.m. the portion of the Airport Road between Flemings Transport and the Port Authority Fire Station at the airport will be closed to parking and vehicle traffic. Patrons will have to park on the road before Flemings Transport. The road will re-open to traffic at 4 a.m.
Venue entry
The normal entrance to the racetrack will be used as a ticket outlet. There will be no entry at that gate. General admission will be through the first double gate on the approach to the racetrack. The VIP entrance is the gate at the higher end of the race track. Security and staff will be on hand to direct concertgoers to the appropriate entrance.
Tempo Turns 4 begins at 4 p.m. with a pre-show which will be broadcast live on WTJX Channel 12. The main event begins at 7 p.m.
