Daily News Photo by SEAN McCOY Wine lovers sampled an array of wines Monday night at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort.

ST. THOMAS - Hundreds of wine lovers and representatives from wineries met at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort on Monday night for the "Wine to the Third Power" fundraiser for the Humane Society of St. Thomas.

The event featured more than 165 wines from 45 wineries, a dinner buffet, live auction and a saki table.

About 300 people from across the island flocked to sample the wide variety of wine and to help raise money for the new Humane Care Campus.

"It's a very eclectic group of people," said Amy Heikkla, director of marketing for Bellows International, which presented the event with the West Indies Corp. and Prestige Wine Group.

Joe Aubain, executive director of the Humane Society of St. Thomas, said that last year the event raised about $25,000 for the organization.

"With this fundraiser and a few other things coming up, we hope to open very soon," he said of the new campus.
