Teddy Romel Bryan

Services will be held on Oct. 30 for Teddy Romel Bryan. He was born Oct. 20, 1953, and passed away peacefully Oct. 18, 2009, at Houston Hospice in Houston, Texas, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

The service will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 30 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Mafolie. Burial will follow in the family graveyard at Estate Barrette 14. A celebration of his life will follow the burial at Hull Bay Hideaway at 6 p.m. Individuals are encouraged to bring copies of photos of Teddy to be displayed and given to the family.

Born and raised on St. Thomas, he loved his family, his animals, the people of the Virgin Islands, the music and culture of the islands, and especially the sea. Being of French descent, he particularly enjoyed the camaraderie and merriment of the French people. Always a hard worker, he provided fish for the people of the islands for more than 35 years. He worked hard but loved his work.

He is survived by his mother, Ann Bryan; his wife, Bobbie Bryan; daughters, Kellie Pressel, Stacie Bryan-Jessen and Brittany Bryan; son, Bryson Bryan; grandchildren, Ross Pressel and Kaylyn Bryan; sisters, Rosalie Coffman, Ariementh Ledee and Agnes Burton; brothers, Francis Bryan, Edver Bryan and Alphonse (Bully) Bryan; mother-in-law, Florence Brazeau; sons-in-law, Matthew Pressel, Kelly Bryan and Ulrik Jessen; sisters-in-law, Vivian Williamson-Bryan, Gayle Selisch, Renee Asher and Tamara Bryan; brothers-in-law, Michael Coffman, Kurt Selisch, Michael Asher and Michael Burton; nephews, Kelly Ledee, Ocean Dreves, Drake Bryan, Calvin Asher and Jared Burton; nieces, Christina Saxton and Reid Selisch; godson, Jeremiah LaPlace; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Bryan; brother, Michael (Mikey or Good-So) Bryan; cousin, James (Jim Jim) Deitrich; and niece, Brooke Selisch; as well as grandparents, uncles, aunts and other cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Houston Hospice, where he was compassionately cared for in his last days, 1905 Holcombe Boulevard, Houston, TX 77030.
