ST. CROIX - After just two races, rain poured down on Randall "Doc" James Racetrack on Sunday and forced the remaining five races to be postponed until Veterans Day.
In the two races that were completed on Sunday, Emerald's Princess beat out the pack in a 2-furlong sprint, with jockey Miguel Sanchez aboard, in a time of 22.3 seconds to claim the $1,500 purse. Sativa finished in second place, followed by Empress Fortune in third.
In the second race, Queen Agnes won with a time of 1:03.2 in the 5-furlong race to claim the $3,100 purse. With jockey Steven Powell, Queen Agnes was able to hold off Gold Sizzler and Dinero, who finished second and third, respectively.
The races will resume on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at James Racetrack.
