Family fun day
Dadlie’s Trucking of St. Thomas and Marco Water Delivery of St. Croix will hold a Community Appreciation Fun Day in the Fort Christian parking lot on St. Thomas on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Backpacks and school supplies will be given to all children attending school. Children must be present to receive a backpack. Two laptops will also be raffled off. A similar event was held on St. Croix last week.
Super Smash Brothers Wii U Video Game Tournament will be hosted Saturday at Caribbean Game Zone in Christiansted, St. Croix.

Sickle cell walk
Dr. Erole McLean Hobdy of V.I. Oncology and Hematology along with the Nigel O. Hodge Foundation will hold a Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Walk/Run Saturday at 6 a.m.
The route starts at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School through Smith Bay to end at the Joseph Gomez Elementary School.

Rotary Club of St. Thomas East and partners are hosting a Sawyer Water Filter demonstration and free distribution at Sea Chest ACE on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
This distribution of portable “bucket filter” kits, with ACE Hardware five-gallon buckets, is part of Rotary Club of St. Thomas East’s ongoing outreach to the community following hurricanes Irma and Maria.
The “bucket filter” kits come with everything needed to turn a five-gallon bucket into a portable reservoir for this extremely effective and efficient gravity-fed filter. A faucet adaptor will also be provided for use with the same filter.
St. John road race
The Francis Bay Fives road and trail race will be held Sunday at 8 a.m. at Francis Bay Beach on St. John.
Choose from a five-mile or 5K distance. Check in and a pre-race meeting will be held at the Tap Room from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. The race is limited to 100 participants and the registration is $5 per person. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K event.
The top male and female finisher for each course will receive a prize. Water and sports drinks will be offered during the race, and light snacks will be provided after. Registration and course maps can be found at www.stjohnsharks.com.

This free lecture will be held on Wednesday at noon at the International Capital and Management board room and will focus on the relationship between dietary fiber intake and cancer risk.
St. Croix Chamber
The St. Croix Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours, celebrating Olympic Rent-A-Car’s 45th anniversary, will be held Thursday at the New Deep End Bar and Grill at the Tamarind Reef Hotel on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
There will be free food and a cash bar as well as music by Bill Bass. The celebration will also include an auction for generators donated by Gallows Bay Hardware, a 50/50 raffle and a raffle of gift certificates from local businesses.
Stone Bodywork Fitness will hold a total body workout four-week series every Thursday through September from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Studio 360 V.I. at La Grande Princess, St. Croix.
