The Caravelle Hotel & Casino and Shupe’s on the Boardwalk present the Saturday Sunset Series, featuring free live music in Christiansted, St. Croix, every Saturday in January from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Enjoy a free live jazz performance at Buddhoe Park as the sun sets in Frederiksted, from 6 to 9 tonight, with local food and drink vendors.

Krewe De Barkus Dog Parade

Come out and watch the colorful parade of costumed canines strut their stuff along the Christiansted Boardwalk on Saturday. The St. Croix Animal Shelter will be on hand with adoptable pets.

Register at Angry Nates at 12:30 p.m. as the parade starts at 1 p.m. For more information on adopting a dog or cat, visit www.stcroixawc.org. Proceeds benefit animal welfare on the island.

2018 Baconfest

The Club Comanche Bar on St. Croix presents the 2018 Baconfest, benefiting the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center, on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. poolside at the bar. Got a great bacon recipe? The Virgin Islands Carnival Committee announces the 2018 V.I. Carnival theme:

“Embrace our culture, music, and cuisine for Carnival 2018.”

The winning entry, which was submitted anonymously, is relevant, short and meaningful. This theme captures the true essence and exuberance of VI Carnival.

This year’s theme will be used at all V.I. Carnival events and will be posted in the Carnival Booklet.

The V.I. Carnival Committee thanks all persons who submitted entries for the 2018 Carnival theme.

The Virgin Islands Carnival Calypso Committee is inviting all calypsonians interested in competing for the 2018 Calypso Monarch Title to a meeting scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Carnival Committee’s office located at 34-A-1 Hospital Gade, formerly the Mannos Building.

Interested persons are asked to note that applications for the 2018 Virgin Islands Carnival Village booth owners are now available.

All applications should be returned by Friday, February 23, 2018.

Applications submitted after the deadline Will Not be considered.

Names of applicants selected for booth spaces, along with alternates, will be announced via the news media onTuesday, March 06, 2018. Recipients will also be notified via telephone.

A meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 for all recipients of booth spaces.
