Kindergarten students from Lew Muckle Elementary School on St. Croix learn about agriculture on Agriculture Thursday during the Week of the Young Child.

This past week, the calendars of early childhood programs across the territory and the nation were packed with five fun-filled themed days in celebration of our youngest learners. “The Week of the Young Child” is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children to spotlight early learning, young children, their teachers, families and communities.

The office of Senator Kurt Vialet partnered with the Lew Muckle Elementary School’s kindergarten classes led by Kim Phillip for Agriculture Thursday, where students learned agriculture awareness and participated in hands-on demonstrations.

Senator Vialet reminds us that “the early years of a child’s life is the foundation that future success in school and life is built on. It is also a time for us as a community to plan how to better meet the needs of young children and their families.”
