In celebration of their 60th anniversary, the Charlotte Amalie High School Class of 1959 will present a cash award to a deserving male student of the Class of 2019. The student must be a housing community resident bound for the University of the Virgin Islands.
“Why? Because too many of our young men are having difficulty graduating from high school, and we are hoping our cash award will not only serve as an incentive for graduation,” said Dr. Valdemar A. Hill, Jr, member of the Class of 1959, “but also to let them know that they are loved and valued.
“We are looking for a young man who, during the last three years of study at CAHS, has demonstrated a passion for academic pursuit, a desire to continue his education and build competence, character, discipline, responsibility and compassion,” Dr. Hill said.
The Class of 1959 has agreed to donate $100 each. However, Dr. Hill extends an invitation to anyone interested in supporting young men in the community to write a check in the amount of $100 to C.A.H.S. and mail to Daisy Lafond (Class of 1959) Post Office Box 5611, St. Croix, V.I. 00823.
