High school seniors are invited to apply for the Edmund Penn Scholarship for the University of the Virgin Islands. The deadline for the scholarship is April 19. This reoccurring scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of five years to a student attending the University of the Virgin Islands. The scholarship covers tuition, fees, books and supplies.

The scholarship recipient must be an incoming freshman who graduated from a high school in either St. Croix or St. John/St. Thomas District. The applicant must plan to major in Marine Biology, Biology, Chemistry or minor in Environmental Science at the University of the Virgin Islands. To be considered, applicants must have a minimum SAT Score of 490 Math/500 English. The recipient must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA overall to retain the scholarship.

To apply, submit a UVI acceptance letter, high school transcripts, SAT scores and a 1,000-word essay explaining “the benefits of preserving natural coastal regions throughout the Virgin Islands.”
