ST. CROIX — The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands, in partnership with Crucian Heritage and Nature Tourism (CHANT) and the V.I. Tourism Department, announces the installation of the first Little Free Library on the island.

The library will be installed Wednesday in front of the Frederiksted Health Care Center on Strand Street at 10 a.m.

The concept of the Little Free Library was introduced to Princess Cruises Community Foundation by CFVI as a way to help the territory recover from hurricanes Irma and Maria. The project has come to fruition thanks to important partnerships with the Tourism Department, which helps plan and maintain the libraries, My Brother’s Workshop on St. Thomas, and CHANT on St. Croix, whose members design and build the Little Libraries. More libraries are planned throughout the territory.

“At CFVI we are so excited about the Little Free Library project. We are proud to champion this initiative to increase access and enjoyment of books for readers of all ages. And we are honored to be working with wonderful partners such as Princess Cruises Community Foundation, CHANT, My Brothers Workshop and the Department of Tourism,” said CFVI President Dee Baecher-Brown.
