Recent reports from the Pew Foundation concerning church affiliation suggest that many of today’s religious denominations active in the United States are headed for near-term extinction.

This is hard for me to believe, given the history and ongoing life of this country, where (a) so many of the core values and practices of our society are rooted in the teachings of our Holy Bible; (b) at least some attention is given to the warnings and recipes for self-correction in passages like Paul’s Second Letter to the Church in Thessalonica, chapter 3, verses 6 to 13; and (c) powerful examples of self-correction abound, clear manifestation of strong faith and hope for regeneration.
