Christine McAllister graduates

Christine McAllister of St. Thomas graduated Cum Laude from Ithaca College’s School of Health Sciences and Human Performance with a degree in Clinical Health Studies. The degree was awarded in May at the school in Ithaca, N.Y.

Kean summer reading assignments

Ivanna Eudora Kean High School has posted the summer reading assignments for all students for the 2017-18 school year. Students are required to complete the English Language Arts summer assignments that will be submitted to the English Department on Oct. 2, whether you have English in the first or second semester. Sorority announces raffle winners

Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated held a raffle drawing on May 21. Winners are: first prize, weekend for two at Frenchman’s Reef Hotel, Jesus Lataladi; second prize, a 40-inch television, Alvin Francis; and third prize, $100 for Petrogas, Nicola Spencer. Proceeds from the raffle go toward sustaining local scholarships and charitable purposes.

Backpack giveaway on St. Croix

Viya and TS Promotions on St. Croix present Tools for Schools Giveaway 2017 on Aug. 19 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Barren Spot Village Mall on St. Croix. Three hundred backpacks will be given away along with free school supplies, face painting and costumed characters. There also will be a school uniform raffle, a chance to win free internet for three months, coupons for free haircuts and free Crucian ice. Parents must be present with children to receive supplies and prizes; one free backpack per child.

Joseph A. Gomez orientation sessions

Joseph A. Gomez Elementary School announces mandatory orientation sessions for the 2017-18 school year that will be held in the cafeteria on Aug. 24 from 9 to 11 a.m. for grades 1 and 2 and noon to 2 p.m. for grades 3 and 4; and Aug. 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. for grades 5 and 6 and noon to 2 p.m. for all kindergartners and new incoming students.

All students must be dressed in the school’s uniform and accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Each parent must bring child’s proof of insurance and a copy of their immunization record. For information, contact the school at 340-775-4490.

Bertha C. Boschulte orientation

Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School has announced mandatory orientation sessions for the 2017-18 school year that will be held at the school. During the designated times, students are asked to present their immunization records and pay required school fees, including $15 for photo ID, $18 for school insurance, $10 for PTSA dues and $25 for PE uniform set ($15 for PE T-shirt and $15 for PE pants). Students must attend the orientation session in full uniform and be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
