Sugar Bay’s Dave Krech, aka Captain Dave, and longtime friend Chef David Starace, who donated his talents from Hakins Meetings and Incentives in New Jersey, took over Fat Turtle restaurant at Yacht Haven Grande on St. Thomas when they closed at 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Glen Carty, partner of Surge Communications and founder of V.I. ASAP Relief Group, provided food and 60 pre-cooked turkeys donated by Cajun Turkey. Krech and Starace prepared more than 600 meals from scratch. By 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, more than 300 people were served at the restaurant and 300 meals sent out to nursing homes and various relief agencies throughout St. Thomas. All Hands and Hearts provided 12 volunteers that came from all parts of the United States to help set up the restaurant, serve, deliver food and clean up after the successful mission.
