The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands announces the installation of the first Little Free Library on St. Croix, to be placed in front of the Frederiksted Health Care Center on Strand Street on Friday at 11 a.m. The public is invited..

The concept of the Little Free Library was introduced to provide free books and promote literacy in the territory, particularly in the wake of the damage and disruption of hurricanes Irma and Maria. The V.I. Tourism Department helps to plan and maintain the libraries, while My Brother’s Workshop and Crucian Heritage and Nature Tourism design and build the Little Libraries, providing training and employment opportunities for the young people in their programs. Funding for the project is provided by Princess Cruises Community Foundation and First Bank VI. Project plans are to install many more Little Free Libraries throughout the territory.
