The V.I. Jazz Collective performs at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, N.Y.

Dion Parson and the United Jazz Foundation presented a month of programming in June for their top music students, with performances and music camps around the U.S. to promote Virgin Islands talent.

With the 21st Century Band, Parson, director of music at the University of the Virgin Islands Music Department, master drummer and composer, has put together an ensemble of top musicians that features a mix of U.S. Virgin Islands traditions such as quelbe and other Caribbean infusions like reggae, calypso, soca, mento, ska, zouk, steel pan, chutney, and funk with New Orleans and African overtones to create their special brand of Caribbean Jazz.
