A person of interest in a murder and other robberies is now in custody, according to V.I. Police Department spokesman Glen Dratte.

Abijah Isaac, 19, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession or sale of ammunition, and possession of a controlled substance. He is being held at Golden Grove Adult Correctional Facility on St. Croix on a $75,000 bond, pending his advice-of-rights hearing, Dratte said.

Police said on May 6 that they were looking for Isaac in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in December in Christiansted.

On May 19, police on mobile patrol on Contentment Road near the Christiansted bypass watched a sport utility vehicle overtake two vehicles in an unsafe area and conducted a traffic stop, according to a press release issued by Dratte on Tuesday evening.

One of the three men in the vehicle took off running and managed to evade police, but dropped a gun while fleeing, Dratte said.

The other two men were charged with firearm and drug possession crimes, and Dratte said police secured a warrant for Isaac’s arrest the following day.

Police made contact with Isaac and served him with the warrant Tuesday, Dratte said.

Dratte said in a recent phone interview that Isaac is also a person of interest in a murder and other robberies.
