V.I. Attorney General Denise George expressed disappointment in the Senate’s removal of $1.7 million to fund the White Collar Crime and Corruption Unit of the V.I. Justice Department.

While Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. signed and approved the fiscal year 2020 budget this week, he expressed disappointment in the Senate’s removal of $1.7 million to fund the White Collar Crime and Corruption Unit of the V.I. Justice Department.

“Removing funding for [this unit] at a time when we need to show concerted efforts on this front to the community and our federal oversight partners concerns me,” Bryan wrote in a letter to Senate President Novelle Francis Jr.
