ST. THOMAS — In a sanctuary filled with family and friends, Doris Comissiong was honored in a service and after party celebrating her 100th birthday Sunday at St. Thomas Reformed Church.

Born on July 8, 1919, to Leslie and Maud Proudfoot, “D” grew up on St. Thomas and graduated from Charlotte Amalie High School in 1937. She worked at the V.I. Cooperative, an establishment that sold local handicrafts, and later at the Finance Department and the Government Employees’ Retirement System, until her retirement in the early 1970s.
