ST. CROIX — Once considered a non-native species, the red-tailed boa or boa constrictor, is not likely to be eradicated anytime soon from the island.

Since the beginning of the year, seven of the large, non-venomous snakes that are frequently kept and bred in captivity, have been discovered on St. Croix, and Department of Planning and Natural Resources officials say residents can expect that number to grow.
