Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. on Monday announced new measures to soften the blow of the pervasive COVID-19 virus, as the number of confirmed cases in the territory jumped to 17 over the weekend.

Bryan, speaking at a Government House press briefing on St. Croix, said his executive order — issued over the weekend — suspends sections of the V.I. Code in order to give residents greater flexibility and security during this financially difficult period.
