An unmarked helicopter flies low Wednesday over Lorraine Village and Mutual Homes in Grove Place, St. Croix. Residents estimated the helicopters dropped within 100 feet of the ground at times. V.I. Police Department Deputy Commissioner Jason Marsh said identical helicopters flying over St. Thomas on Tuesday were part of a federal operation. While he could not provide further information, Marsh said the helicopters flying over St. Croix on Wednesday were likely part of a similar operation. The aircraft appear identical to Bell 412 helicopters shown off by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration in the Bahamas.
