The federal government has blocked public access to the territory’s Community Disaster Loan application for relief funds to assist with recovery from the 2017 hurricanes.

The Daily News filed a Freedom of Information Request with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, a division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, on Aug. 22, 2018. That request sought copies of the Virgin Islands government’s application for the Community Disaster Loan as a result of hurricanes Irma and Maria, as well as copies of FEMA’s approval documents.
