Mark Vanterpool

Fourth District Representative Mark Vanterpool, left, is sworn into the British Virgin Islands House of Assembly on Tuesday on Tortola, four months and four days after his colleagues, as Sergeant At Arms Dean Fahie and acting House of Assembly Clerk Khauesten Industrious looks on.

TORTOLA — Four months and four days after his colleagues were sworn into the British Virgin Islands House of Assembly, Fourth District Representative Mark Vanterpool joined them.

Vanterpool was sworn in by Speaker Julian Willock during Tuesday’s sitting, ending a battle between Willock and Vanterpool that began in March. While a court ruled in favor of Vanterpool, the dispute only ended when Premier Andrew Fahie intervened, asking Willock to drop his appeal and swear in Vanterpool.
