The future of floating restaurants in the Virgin Islands was up for debate Tuesday at a public meeting on St. Thomas, where several St. John residents criticized a proposal to install a new bar-on-a-barge between Mingo and Grass cays.

The project’s proponents said they believe it’ll be an eco-friendly boon to local charter boat tourism, while Coastal Zone Management Director Marlon Hibbert said the territory hasn’t yet come up with specific policies for regulating the wildly popular tourist attractions.
