While the V.I. Health Department is still “diligently” monitoring for mosquito-borne viruses like Zika, dengue and chikungunya, an official wants the public to know that the diseases are “not a concern” for the territory at the moment.

Dr. Esther Ellis, the territorial epidemiologist for the Health Department, told The Daily News on Tuesday that there has not been a case of Zika since January 2018, and it has been even longer since there have been confirmed cases of chikungunya and dengue.
