Roughly $31 million in federal funds are expected to be disbursed to the prime contractors — and in turn, the bevy of subcontractors — who were involved in the territory’s emergency home repair program.

On Thursday, the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority announced that the funds are part of a $233 million package that the Federal Emergency Management Agency obligated to the territory in December for the Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power program, known locally as the Emergency Home Repairs V.I. program.
