Attorneys in the retrial of three former Schneider Hospital executives presented closing arguments in the case Wednesday, and jurors will now deliberate on the previous five weeks’ worth of evidence and testimony that prosecutors say proves the men conspired to embezzle millions in public funds.

But defense attorneys say the men took only the compensation they were entitled to, and have been unfairly scapegoated because hospital board members feared backlash when the public learned of their eye-popping salaries and benefits packages.
