ST. CROIX — Police on Monday said that a man identified as the “chief suspect” in the killing of a woman found buried in a shallow grave last week has not yet been charged, and the investigation is ongoing.

Daivys Renaldo Vasquez, 51, who was arrested on Oct. 9, remains jailed on burglary and assault charges in connection with the home invasion and third-degree assault of 56-year-old Robin Hitesman, known more popularly as Nancy. Hitesman’s body was found hours earlier that day, buried in an area near her home. She had been reported missing by her family since Oct. 4.
