ST. CROIX — On a random Tuesday morning, even before the sun made its first appearance in the east, Grantley Samuel could be found walking ever so gently between rows of soil, delicately placing cucumber seedlings into previously dug holes.

His love of farming is evidenced by the time he invests in the land and has won him the title of Crop Farmer of the Year again and again. This year, for the fourth time, he received the nod of the judges for having a farm superior to others in the competition.
