ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue is aiming to simplify taxes via technology.

Director Joel Lee, who appeared Tuesday before the V.I. Senate Finance Committee for a budget hearing, said his information technology staff is researching the “next generation” of the bureau’s tax system, to include online filing and payments. “The territory of Guam has a more updated version to our current system, so we are preparing to reach out to them so that we can reduce the learning curve of getting the IT department current and in order,” he said.
