ST. CROIX — “Wooo hoooo, Wooo hoooooo. Edwin Russell’s voice carried across the open field in Estate Granard as he called his goats to come close. He is patient with them and shows a genuine love for his animals. He takes pride in the way he organizes his modest farm and keeps it clean.
These are just some of the things that led to Russell being named this year’s Livestock Farmer of the Year for the 49th Annual Agriculture and Food Fair held this weekend. Russell’s farm is located on 25 acres of land nestled between gently rolling hills on two sides and the Caribbean Sea on another, just off South Shore Road.
