A group that owns hotels on two New England islands petitioned the V.I. Economic Development Commission on Tuesday for benefits that will help it build a boutique resort on Lovango Cay.

During a new application hearing before the EDC’s governing board, Mark Snider of Lovango Island Holdings spoke of his plans for a hotel on the “magical island” off St. John. Snider and his family owns and operates The Nantucket Hotel & Resort and the Winnetu Oceanside Resort, on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.
