ST. THOMAS — V.I. government officials are hoping a $3 million transformation of Vendors’ Plaza will give the so-called “gateway to Charlotte Amalie” a more attractive, accessible and durable setup.

On Monday, the V.I. Senate Committee on Culture, Historic Preservation and Aging heard testimony from Licensing and Consumer Affairs Commissioner Richard Evangelista, whose department has had jurisdiction over the plaza since its inception in 1992.
