V.I. Police have arrested a woman after she attacked a man with punches, scratches and stones, according to reports.

Glen Dratte, the department’s spokesman, said in a news release Monday that Rocio Cortez Medina was charged with simple assault and battery, domestic violence; and disturbance of the peace, domestic violence. No bail was set, per the territory’s domestic violence statue, and she is in the custody of the Corrections Bureau, Dratte confirmed.

Cortez Medina went to the victim’s friend’s house on Saturday, where she punched and scratched him, Dratte said. She also threw stones at him and broke a window, according to the release.

She was later arrested at her place of work, Dratte said.

Both Cortez Medina and her victim are Venezuelan citizens and illegal immigrants, according to police. Dratte said authorities have been notified of their immigration status.

The case is under investigation by the V.I. Police Department’s Domestic Violence Unit, according to Dratte.
