ST. CROIX — The V.I. Port Authority and government officials believe Christiansted is one step closer to becoming a bustling hub of economic growth with the opening of a new welcome center at the Gallows Bay Marine Facility.

Officials with the V.I. Port Authority, which operates the marine facility, held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday morning to celebrate the opening of the $1.5 million open-air structure.
