ST. THOMAS — Court documents filed in V.I. District Court provide additional details about an alleged human trafficking ring busted recently by federal agents on St. Thomas.
The court records allege the purported leader of the operation, Yohanna Gonzalez-McFarlane, trafficked dozens of women to St. Thomas to work at the Underground Nightclub on the island’s East End, where she stole their passports and kept them captive in a cramped apartment. She also threatened to kill them if they tried to escape — even telling one woman she wasn’t afraid of being reported to authorities because she had connections with V.I. Police, court records reveal.
