The University of the Virgin Islands’ Research and Technology Park has created two programs to target local talent and spur the V.I. economy.

Transforming the Virgin Islands into a mecca for budding tech entrepreneurs may seem a bit of a stretch. But for those at the University of the Virgin Islands’ Research and Technology Park, the goal is not only doable but already taking shape.

On Thursday, members of the “RTPark” held a community briefing at the UVI campus on St. Thomas to share with the public their purpose, vision and — perhaps most importantly — two new programs that aim to target local talent and spur the V.I. economy.
