A homeless man who traveled to St. Thomas from Seattle three weeks ago was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation Monday, after he asked police to put him in jail, according to a police report and court testimony.

The man, Ison Prescott, is a father of five children with an extensive history of petty crime in four states, and it’s unclear how he was able to travel to the Virgin Islands, attorneys said during his advice of rights hearing Monday.
