ST. THOMAS — V.I. lawmakers were not enthused Friday by AT&T and Sprint officials, who, while giving an overview of their hurricane contingency plans, were unable to answer several questions in detail — a problem that senators attributed to a lack of local Virgin Islands representation.

Testifying before the Senate Committee on Housing, Transportation, Infrastructure and Telecommunications on St. Thomas, cell phone providers Viya, AT&T and PR Wireless — which manages Sprint — spoke of their backup plans in the event of a major storm.
