V.I. lawmakers are demanding “more action and less foot-dragging” when it comes to behavioral health, blasting health officials Monday over an apparent inability to execute long-held plans and goals.

According to V.I. Health Commissioner Justa Encarnacion, who testified before the Senate Committee on Health, Hospitals and Human Services on St. Croix, the department’s Division of Behavioral Health has adopted a new model for re-introducing and supporting outpatient services in the territory — with ample funding in tow.
