A St. Croix Central High School student was taken into custody Thursday after police discovered a loaded handgun, narcotics and more than $3,000 in his possession, according to police.

Police spokesman Glen Dratte said the 911 call center was notified of the student shortly after 2 p.m. When police arrived, school monitors told them the student had assaulted a teacher.

According to Dratte, the student was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and processed at the Juvenile Bureau.

This case is under investigation by the Juvenile Bureau, according to Dratte.
