ST. THOMAS — A $3 million drop in gross receipts tax collections on St. Thomas had Gov. Albert Bryan Jr.’s financial team baffled Tuesday during a V.I. Senate budget hearing.

The team, which testified before the Senate Finance Committee on the tentative fiscal year 2020 budget, said further investigation is needed to determine why St. Thomas experienced a $3 million drop between fiscal years 2018 and 2019, compared to St. Croix, which saw a $3.1 million increase.
