ST. CROIX — A transitional housing complex, with the goal of assisting residents who fall on hard times, opened its doors in Christiansted on Thursday.

St. Teresa of Calcutta House of Hope, a three-story building located at 16 Friedenstahl, will serve both the homeless population and less-fortunate residents on St. Croix, according to Andrea Shillingford, executive director of Catholic Charities of the Virgin Islands, the nonprofit managing the home.
