A second tranche of federal recovery dollars, totaling nearly $780 million, is now ready to be allocated to the territory, despite fears at the federal level that the Virgin Islands may lack the capacity to handle it.

The funding, which totals $779,217,000, represents the second allocation of Community Development Block Grant disaster recovery funds, which go toward long-term housing recovery, infrastructure and economic revitalization projects.
