Three earthquakes near St. Thomas Sunday did not trigger the threshold to issue emergency notifications through the Alert VI system, according to Daryl Jaschen, director of the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency.

Jaschen said Monday that the system is set to only send out alerts about earthquakes that register as a 4.1 or higher on the Richter scale, and all three quakes were no higher than 3.9.
